4 - FIRST AID MEASURES

As a general rule, in case of doubt or if symptoms persist, always call a doctor.
NEVER induce swallowing in an unconscious person.

In the event of exposure by inhalation.

The inhalation toxicity of this substance has not been determined.  However, it may cause irritation if inhaled.  The degree of injury will depend on the airborne concentration and duration of exposure.   Signs and symptoms of central nervous system effects may include one or more of the following:  headache, dizziness and loss of coordination.

In the event of splashes or contact with eyes.

Direct contact with the liquid may result in severe irritation to the eyes and could cause impairment of vision.  The degree of the injury will depend on the amount of material that gets into the eye and the speed and thoroughness of the first aid treatment.  Signs and symptoms may include pain, tears, redness, and blurred vision.

 

In the event of splashes or contact with skin.

This substance may cause skin irritation.  Signs and symptoms may include discoloration and swelling. The dermal toxicity of this substance has not been determined.

 

In the event of swallowing.

Ingestion is not a probable route of exposure.  However, if ingested, this substance may cause gastrointestinal irritation, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.  The degree of irritation will depend on the quantity swallowed, and the speed and thoroughness of the first aid treatments.

 


5 - FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES

As this product is primarily aqueous, it is not a fire hazard.  After water is evaporated the remaining solids could burn.

11 - TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION

The preparation contains no substance classed as hazardous per directive 67/548/EEC.

In the event of exposure by inhalation.

Remove exposed person to fresh air.  Treat symptoms of irritation if needed.  Consult a physician if irritation persists

 

In the event of swallowing.

Immediately consult a physician (report pH of product).  Dilute by drinking water or milk.  If vomiting occurs, aspiration (breathing) of vomit into the lungs must be avoided since it may lead to aspiration pneumonitis.

 

In the event of splashes or contact with skin.

Wash thoroughly with soap and water.  Remove and wash contaminated clothing.  Consult a physician if irritation develops.

 

In the event of splashes or contact with eyes.
